Paradise

The planet Earth, it is quite the unique one, the only known planet that has the ability to maintain life, it is home to the species known as humans. This place is where we, as humans develop. As years go by, we learned about new discoveries, we develop different inventions and we gain new knowledge, but as humanity lives, the environment deteriorates, humans forget that this world is the only planet that we can live in, our only home. It is not just our home, but as well as the plants and animals’. As the most intelligent species of the animal kingdom, it our duty to protect and care for our home.

Environmental problems are caused by humans, and natural disasters occur, but they are exacerbated by humans. Typhoons, tsunamis, and other natural calamities are unavoidable, but we may mitigate their impact by being more proficient in taking care of our environment. Natural calamities wreak havoc on our communities even more if we've been neglectful of the environment. Pollution is an example of this it may affect your health or another person’s health, in order for us to live in a more peaceful and healthier world, we must learn to work together to protect our home.

You must be thinking, “how am I able to help care for the environment?”, well my dear readers, here are simple things you can do to help the environment:

1.    Plant trees - Replace any trees that have been cut down “cut one tree down, plant one hundred”. Food and oxygen are provided by trees. They aid in energy conservation, air purification, and climate change mitigation. They also help lessen the possibility of landslides.

2.    Conserve water and energy - The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater you produce, and that ends up in the ocean. Conserving water can also conserve energy that powers your house, it helps lessen greenhouse gases that some appliances release that can cause global warming.

3.    Use the 5rs As you know it’s no longer called the 3rs, it’s now 5rs also known Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Refuse or Rot. To avoid throwing things away, reuse means reusing them for another use or using them for the same purpose. Reduce is a term that refers to reducing the usage of dangerous, wasteful, and non-recyclable products in order to save money and the environment. Recycling is the process of converting an old object into a new one, such as tin cans, plastic bottles, newspaper, and so on. To Refuse means to say no, it isn't always simple. None of the freebies at events, the inexpensive things on clearance, the hot new children's toys, or the latest devices that claim to improve your life are necessary. And they end up in the trash or in the back of a closet, forgotten. Consider whether a non-essential item would actually improve your life the next time you're tempted to buy or accept it. Finally, learning to rot entails learning how to turn garbage and organics into fertilizer.

4.    Walk and Bike - Try walking or bicycling for short trips—you'll get a good workout without having to step foot in a gym. If you are unable to walk to your location, biking is another viable choice.

5.    Proper waste Segregation - Avoid combining biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste in the same garbage bin or trash bag and learn how to separate the two. Learn how to distinguish between recyclable and reusable items. Simply put, learn how to properly dispose of your waste in order to reduce and eliminate land and water contamination.

All of these are simple ways to help conserve the environment, but consistency is key; you may preach these principles, but do you follow them? You may do it once or twice, but that is insufficient; you must be consistent in your actions and practice what you preach.
