My Year: Reflections on the first quarter

The first quarter of the school year is ending relatively soon. The past eight weeks has been very challenging and I assume it will be more challenging as the months go by, I have learned so many things and discovered things that I actually like to do. Although online classess are difficult to adjust to, it was still a very interesting experience, but I would not like to experience again this type of learning. Today, I want to reflect on what I have learned, my difficulties on this quarter and how I managed them in our subject of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

ICT has been one of my favorite subjects to learn in school, I have learned many things Like the history of the internet and the timeline of it, the Internet was first envisaged in the early 1960s under the supervision of the Department of Defense's Advanced Research Project Agency, and the Philippines was connected to the internet in March 1994. I also learned that a web page is a document that stores online information, that web servers are computers that store web pages' files, and that web clients are computers that view web pages. The domain name, I discovered, identifies the location of a webpage or file on the internet. The levels of domain names are: 3rd level domain, which aids the server in locating the address on the internet by narrowing it down to the World Wide Web (www); 2nd level domain, which tells the web name of the entity you want to find; and top level domain (TLD), which is the suffix or a web address, which indicates the type of entity to which the web site belongs, such as.gov,.edu,.org,.com, and many others.

In the second lesson, I learned about some internet services and tools, such as electronic mail, or e-mail, a faster way to communicate with others and send and receive messages to and from any recipients, as well as other internet tools and services,

Text files, image files (GIF, JPEG, BMP), sound files (WAV, AIFF, AU), and video and animation files are among the data kinds I learned about (MPEG, MOV).

In the third lesson I’ve read, we learned about the different types of blogs, during which we made our blogs and layouting it which was really fun to do. Blogs are sometimes known as web logs, and they are usually controlled by a single person. Their blogs frequently contain commentary, descriptive information, or other media such as images and videos. Personal blogs, business blogs, question blogging, video blogging, photoblog, linklog, MP3 blog, and phlog are all examples of blogs. Blogs can also be classified according to the type of gadget utilized. Mobile blogging is a type of blogging in which the entries are made using a smartphone or other mobile device. Blogs can also be focused on a specific topic or genre (travel blogs, fashion blogs, cooking blogs, etc.).

The following lesson showed me how to use www.blogger.com to create a blog account. I also learned about the sections and structure of a blog, as well as the structure of a blog. The lesson also reminded me of the necessity of citing your sources and other things in your blog, as well as the need of avoiding plagiarism.

Client-server computing, the World Wide Web, Web Server Software, Web Server Hardware, Web Information Architecture, web browsers or web clients, web servers, and browse interaction were all topics covered in the fifth course. In addition, I was able to recollect the components of a web browser, including the URL and the domain name system.

Lesson six has proven to be extremely beneficial in my use of search engines such as Google. This lesson also covers how to use search engines and how to combine search keywords. This is quite helpful because it allows me to quickly locate websites and sources on the internet. Phrase searching, Boolean logic, pseudo-Boolean logic, and term weighing are all skills I've acquired. I now have a better knowledge of how to use synonyms, homonyms, and truncation in search engines.

I learnt a lot about internet access, local area networks, and wireless broadband connectivity from classes seven and eight. I learned the definitions of data rate units, which are the average number of bits, characters, or blocks passed between equipment in a data transmission system per unit time. A bandwidth is a measurement of how much data is sent to a specific connection in a given amount of time. It can also refer to a frequency band that is used to convey a signal. In signal processing, bandwidth is measured in hertz and is frequently used as a reference.

The difficulties I had when answering the modules and studying the lessons stem from the fact that, as a self-learner, I am unfamiliar with the majority of the terms in the LAS and have only just discovered some of them. Some of the directions are difficult to understand at first, but after some time, I've figured them out. I managed to overcome these problems thanks to the guidance of my teacher when we have online classes and having guidance from my older friends who have already learnt this lesson.

Moving on, I will continue to study diligently and do my best to comprehend the ICT lessons. There may be some phrases or aspects of a lesson that I don't grasp, but I make an effort to comprehend the lessons. I will continue to work hard throughout the school year in order to achieve good grades. As I am growing older I must learn to take responsibility and try to learn by myself as this might be my year.
