Tis the season to be jolly?
Another year is about to
end thus marking the start of another christmas. What do you usually think when you hear
the word ‘Christmas’? Is it the presents you get under the tree? Or the
bright and colorful lights and decorations surrounding your home and
neighborhood? Is it the chilly air that hits your face? Or it’s the meal you
and your family share together? The holidays you go on? Or is it the birth of
Christ that comes to mind? Whatever it is you during this holiday, everyone
celebrates Christmas their own way.
All around the world, everyone celebrates Christmas, other
cultures have reasons to celebrate it.
For us here in the Philippines, we celebrate it because it is the birth of our
savior Jesus Christ. We go to church almost every other day to pray and
celebrate. Family and friends have parties and large amounts of food for
everyone to feast on, for family members overseas, they come home to celebrate
it in their hometown and the family they haven’t seen all year.Unfortunately, this year is the same as last year. When the
COVID-19 struck, everyone was forced to stay in their homes to avoid
contracting the virus. It dampened the holiday mood as everyone wasn’t able to
enjoy the season. However, this year for other countries, they are able to go
out with their family and friends, but for some they are still stuck home.
Families who are working overseas are unable to go home as
they are stuck in quarantine or was
not allowed in the country, while there are those who lost their jobs and
wasn’t able to supply their family with basic needs such as food, water or a
roof over their heads, thus leaving them homeless and starving.
Despite the problems that
face our way, we are still able to rise up and push through all these challenges.
Those who are away and are unablt to go home for the holidays are able to
facetime their loved ones, although they are not here physically, you are still
able to contact them. For those who lost their jobs, they are funded and given
donations from the generous donaters and the government.
Although this Christmas
may be different, we are able to overcome these challenges, if we work
together, after all, wasn’t Christmas about the spirit of giving?

ReplyDeleteI admire your work so much! Not to mention your intro, it gives out a vibe y'know? Also, I know last Christmas was hard, but at least we got through it right? We survived such chaotic journeys and I know we could do so throughout the years, together.
