All around the world, every single culture celebrates festivals. Festivals are often associated with a theme, may it be religion, an important part of their history or beliefs, and Vigan is no exception to this. Colorful banners and ornaments are scattered around the place, a festival common in Vigan is the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival.

During the festival, there are many festivities to do, such as the festival where it promotes the products, dishes, talents and culture of different cities in Ilocos. This festival happens during January to the February, there are carnivals, competitions, and many traditions happening like street dancing, where dancers dance in the streets for people, tourists also come during this time.

A pageant called Saniata ti Ylocos, happens for both adults and children, this year’s winner for the adults is Richelle Anne Presto, there are also other competitions for artists of Ilocos Sur like comic making and poster-making.
