The Season of Forgiveness
The Lenten season in the Christian church is a period of penitential preparation for Easter, it begins on Ash Wednesday, six and a half weeks before Easter. It has a 40-day fasting period (Sundays are excluded), imitating Jesus’ fasting before his public ministry. The Lenten season is a period of refection and forgiveness, it is defined as the time of passion, sacrifice, love, as the Catholics and Christians recall the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through our savior, all the sins of the people are washed away and are given another chance to live a life of good.
The season begins with
Ash Wednesday, the first day of lent, where people go to church and be marked
by a cross with ashes by the priest, it is considered a time for repentance. After
Ash Wednesday, the Holy week begin or what it is called Semana Santa, it begins from Palm Sunday to Black Sunday, after
these days, Easter Sunday happens. As per tradition, Catholics aren’t able to
eat meat, whether it be the whole week or just some specific days. The
neighborhoods would also usually be quiet, families making mini altars in front
of their home for people who are going around praying and dictating the life of
Jesus. In churches, a lot of people pray and visit different churches, the
statues of holy figures and holy relics are covered with purple cloth and are
removed once the season ends.
The Lenten season is an
important event in the Roman Catholic calendar, the holy week is a time for
reflection, passion and forgiveness. We recall the passion, suffering and death
of Christ who died for our sins, so remember my dear brothers and sisters, love
each other, and forgive each other despite anything “You may not value my life
but I value yours”.

Hey Cass! I like how your blog is really simple and informative. I agree that we should spread love, and forgive others despite whoever they are. Keep up the good work!
